Unreality

I have finally reached the age of unreality.  The ability to be focusing on one thing and forgetting everything else.  of course, I am not sure this is a good thing or the beginning of dementia.

For example, my desk lamp bulb blew out and I was in the dark except for my computer screen.  It was difficult to type.  I had to leave the room for a bit and Jenifer replaced the bulb.  When I came back and sat at the computer - I was focusing on what I was reading and never even noticed that the lamp was on.  Jen came back in the room and said that one of my photos had fallen off my cork board when she replaced the bulb.  "You replaced the bulb"??

When I read a novel, the rest of the world goes away.

I must admit that this is a bit scary for me since I wonder if this is my way of escaping my reality - such as it is.  I can remember reading a novel and having to read the page again because my mind was elsewhere.

This does help prayer because I am in a really good place while praying and God feels closer.

Is this a sign of getting older or just normal?
What do you think?
