Snapshots vs. point and shoot

Remember when we called them snapshots?  Now we call them point and shoot. I remember taking so much time back then to line everything up. Here are 2 perfect examples.  The little girl is me in 1946.  The writing is my grandmas - always difficult to read.

The photograph below was taken in 1934.  Everyone used to pose like that.
From left to right - my mom-Aunt Ida-My great grandma Sophie and Uncle Eugene.

Which ones are more fun for you?

Hmm ... I'm a photographer so I am sort of "forced" to take posed photos at one point or another. But candid shots are definitely my favourite! You can capture the moment and the memories with them so much better!

I love the Brighton Beach photo! :)

Love posed candid shots....ya know, when you say "look here" and they do perfectly, but it is still candid!

I love looking at old photos. Sometimes it is hard to believe that your parents or aunts and uncles where actually young.

I like all kinds of photography. I think each type evokes a sort of feeling. No one shot can capture all of life with a certain pose. Neat way to point out the differences. Those were cool old photos! :)

I absolutely think the picture of you as a little girl is precious.

Both have their merits.

I am partial to the old photos - I love the sepia tone, the period clothes, hair styles, hats. Even the fact they they all stood at attention for the photo. This was very important to them. Not everyone had a camera. Now people take pictures with their phones.
