Ice Cream Analysis

Blue Bunny ice cream was on sale this week.
I have a mug full every night but this week I had a revelation. I love ice cream -just ice cream in its' place.
Not candy disguised as ice cream, or ice cream buried in sauce and whipped cream. Don't get me wrong, I love candy, hot fudge sauce and whipped cream, just not mixed with ice cream.
I decided to try two new flavors this week - peanut butter swirl and pecan praline. When Jenifer called me from Shop-rite to read off the flavors they sounded really good. The peanut butter swirl was inundated with peanut butter cups and the pecan praline was loaded with pecans.
Now perhaps you are reading this and saying, "What? Is she nuts?" Maybe but the nuts should be nuts in a bowl and the ice cream should be separate. I just can't enjoy the ice cream while having to chew all that stuff.  If I want peanut butter cups, I will get a bag of Reeses!
Also, ice cream CONES have to be sugar or waffle cones, not those cones that taste like styrofoam that they usually give you at Dairy Queen. Nowadays, you have to ask for a sugar or waffle cone when back when I was a little kid that is all they had.
So, my ice cream revelation is that from now on, I will get vanilla, chocolate, coffee or strawberry or any ice cream that just stands on its own.

What is your favorite?

My favorite is chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. This goes against everything that you just posted, Sue, but it is my favorite. Wish I had some right now. Maybe later - it is morning and I don't think I've ever had ice cream for breakfast.

My favorite ice cream is pralines & cream, but of a "stand alone" ice cream, it's chocolate.

Have a great day!

I love ice cream with pecans and nuts and chocolate. Can't go wrong with those combos.

I actually met my hubby of 36 years in his family owned ice cream parlor called the Big Dipper/Dipper Dan Ice Cream.

Now that worked.

In high school I used to sneak off campus at lunchtime once in a while (freshmen and sophomores weren't allowed off campus) to go to Baskin Robbins for a scoop of pistachio ice cream. One day I found my little brother there doing the same thing--said it went for a scoop of pistachio once or twice a week too.

lol!! SUe :O)
my first job out of university was at an ice cream store! that about did me in as far as ice cream - but I have been known to recently snack on HaagenDaaz double chocolate covered bars on the stick (one bar lasts me several days....I nibble), and the super size frozen Snicker's ice cream bars...sometimes to be found at 7-11 :D (those I can nibble on for a week!)

I love ice cream on incredibly hot days when I'm on vacation. It has to be from some wonderful little shop. Ice cream at home just does not taste the same. Flavors vary depending on the weather or the specialty.

Great pictures by the way!

I like "stuff" in my ice cream! My favorite is vanilla with peanut butter cups chopped up and mixed in and a close second is pralines and cream. If I have to eat just ice cream I like strawberry...but it has strawberry pieces in it usually. :) I do like to mix a spoonful of peanut butter in vanilla on occasion.

This is Zuda, I'm at work.

I have had blue bunny ice cream before... I am what you might call an ice cream fanatic... I wanted to be an ice cream wo-man with an ice cream truck when I was 6 lol. My all time favorite was cookie dough, until I went to Tillimook cheese factory and tried their pumpkin and peach... they are the best flavors of all time!

I don't indulge in ice cream very often - but nothing beats white choc and macadamia in my opinion! I don't mind nuts in mine!

Last night I had chocolate peanut butter in a waffle cone. Yum!

I used to work at Baskin Robbins and I was amazed how many people ordered chocolate, strawberry or vanilla given all of the options.

Sue - This was an Andy Rooney type post! I need stuff in my ice cream. Nuts, candy, fudge, but especially nuts.

I would say chocolate between the "regular" flavors, but my favorite is extreme moose tracks--candy and all that lol. No nuts, just chocolate swirls, reeses, and fudge in chocolate ice cream :-)

mmm love plain chocolate ice cream. but i do have to say I'm a sucker for sprinkles. And now we have a frozen yogurt place right around the corner. I much rather have hard ice cream, but i love adding any toppings to it!

I totally agree about the styrofoam cones. Fortunately Braum's has the good ones and that's automatically what they give you at the drive through.
I like the basic neopolitan flavors but I also like a lot of other flavors like mint choc chip and cappuccino chunky chocolate and several different Ben&Jerrys flavors.

Man, now I want some. :-r
